The exact answer to the question about who is the highest scorer for the South African national team in the history of World Cups ends in a technical draw. Record holders and goals in France and Asia

Although they share the isolated lead, the construction of the record happened in very different ways for the two athletes. Shaun Bartlett scored both goals in a single match: the dramatic 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia, during the group stage of the 1998 World Cupplayed in France.

In addition to his eye for goal, McCarthy boasts the record of most matches played by the country in World Cups, with six games under his belt.

With the South African team competing for a place in the 2026 World Cup (North America), new names emerge as potential heirs to this historic artillery. Under the command of Belgian coach Hugo Broosthe team has renewed its front pieces.

The main active candidate to break the double record is Lyle Foster, current Burnley center forwardfrom England. Alongside him, prominent players in the local championship, such as Evidence Shells and Oswin Appollisform the offensive base that tries to put the country back on the World Cup map.

Although modest in total volume, South Africa’s artillery has a gigantic weight in the sport’s imagination.
