Cattle rancher Teresa Vendramini, known as Teka, is plan A in Fernando de Haddad’s () campaign to be his vice president.
Although Teka has refused initial inquiries, allies of the former Finance Minister have held conversations with her and are confident of convincing her to accept the mission.
At the beginning of the year, she joined the PDT, the party that will support Haddad’s candidacy.
Former president of the Brazilian Rural Society, the cattle rancher would signal dialogue with agribusiness, a sector normally refractory to PT candidates in the state of São Paulo. The objective is for her to have a role similar to that of Geraldo Alckmin for Lula.
If the ticket is confirmed, the two vacancies for the Senate would remain defined. One must be (). Haddad’s allies already estimate that it will be difficult to prevent him, also from the PSB, from being nominated for the other party, since he has total control over the party in the state.
If this happens there will be protests from the PSOL-Rede federation, which works on behalf of the former minister. The argument is that there will be an imbalance with two PSB names.
An alternative would be to offer Marina a substitute candidacy for the Senate.
