Bolsonaro is progressing well after surgery, says bulletin – 05/02/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The former president () showed good progress after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder at the DF Star Hospital, in , and will continue to be hospitalized, according to a medical bulletin released this Saturday (2).

The procedure was on Friday (1st). In the medical bulletin, no discharge forecast was reported.

“He showed good evolution and good pain control. At the moment, he remains hospitalized in an apartment for analgesia, measures to prevent thrombosis and will begin a motor and functional rehabilitation protocol,” said the hospital.

Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro has been posting updates about the former president’s health status on her social media. This Saturday morning, she said that her husband had spent the night well and that everything was under control.

The day before, he also said that he was already without nasal oxygen and that he had managed to eat soup. “The fingers of the hand on the procedure arm — which are normal not to move due to the anesthetic — have now started moving again,” he wrote.

Under house arrest since March, Bolsonaro needed authorization from the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) to undergo the procedure.

According to lawyers, the former president had persistent pain and functional incapacity in his shoulder, requiring him to take painkillers every day.

The rotator cuff is a set of four tendons located in the shoulder region, responsible for rotation movements and for keeping the joint firm and stable during movements, according to orthopedist Maurício Raffaelli, a specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery.
