Representative Max Lemos (União Brasil-RJ) was the target of a shooting attack in the early hours of this Friday (1st), in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. He was with his team in a vehicle during the incident and managed to escape.
The parliamentarian was returning from an appointment in the municipality of Miracema, northwest of Rio de Janeiro, when he was surprised by gunshots, at around 3:45 am (Brasília time), on BR-116.
The deputy’s team released a note narrating the facts. Following her, the criminals’ car closed on the vehicle they were in, causing a collision and, even after the crash, shots continued. The driver managed to change direction and leave the scene.
The deputy registered an incident at the 62nd DP (Imbariê), in Duque de Caxias.
Max Lemos’ team also indicated that the episode was caused by the parliamentarian’s role in combating organized crime.
“Max Lemos is recognized for his firm action in the fight against organized crime, with a public stance against the use of heavy weapons and the actions of criminal groups. In the National Congress, he participated in proposals that toughen criminal legislation against crimes involving firearms”, he says.
