Considered one of the most important and awaited events on the world fashion calendar, the Met Gala 2026 takes place this Monday (3), directly from Metropolitan Museum of Artin New York.
In addition to marking the annual opening of the fashion exhibition at the iconic museum, the event also raises funds for the operations of the institution’s department, known as the Costume Institute.
What really happens at the Met Gala?
Organized by Anna Wintour, 76, former editor of the American edition of Vogue magazine, the ceremony brings together renowned celebrities who walk and pose in front of a powerful red carpet, showing off productions that dictate fashion trends.
After the staircase, where guests usually give brief interviews, the press and photographers no longer have access to the internal areas, where a mysterious dinner and presentations by great artists take place.
Afterwards, they are taken to see the exhibition and, shortly afterwards, to the official start of the celebration, with dinner being served. The organization, in fact, usually selects each seat, marking the space in which each guest should sit throughout the night.
