Former mayor of Rio toured cities in the Lagos Region on Saturday and mocked his absence at the Colombian singer’s show
The former mayor of Rio de Janeiro and pre-candidate for the state government, (PSD), participated on Saturday (May 2, 2026) in a jazz festival in Armação dos Búzios. The agenda was held on the same day that they attended the singer Shakira’s show on Copacabana beach.
Before ending the day in Búzios, Paes visited Arraial do Cabo, Araruama and Iguaba Grande. Circulation through interior municipalities is part of the pre-campaign strategy for the dispute for the Guanabara Palace in 2026.

Meanwhile, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the mayor Eduardo Cavaliere accompanied the operation set up for the project “Everyone in Rio”, responsible for the Colombian artist’s show.
Paes commented on his absence jokingly on social media. “Shakira must be sad about my absence, but she is well represented by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere”he stated.
Rio de Janeiro City Hall projected that Colombian singer Shakira’s performance would attract 2 million people and generate R$776.2 million. The event took place at 9:45 pm on the beach sand.
