It’s going hard! The popular dance show Let’s Dance is coming to an end and we are only one week away from meeting the king and queen of the dance floor. TV Markíza kicked off the semi-finals of the eleventh year of the show in style. The semi-finalists Zuzana Porubjaková, Ján Koleník, Kristián Baran and Jakub Jablonský danced a ballroom dance and then a Charleston with their dance partners on Sunday.
The two couples with the highest number of SMS votes automatically advanced to the finals. The first finalists were Zuzana Porubjaková and Matyáš Adamec and Kristián Baran and Eliška Betaková. Jakub Jablonský and Ján Koleník had to fight hard enough for this ticket in the form of a dance duel. However, Jakub Jablonský was eliminated in the semi-finals and Ján Koleník became the third finalist.
In the semi-final as well as in the other rounds, Ján Koleník performed brilliantly. The hot favorite for the winner thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of full and roaring Incheba. This was also noticed by the presenter and his co-star from the marquee hit Dunaj, at your service, Jana Kovalčiková, who after dancing Koleník’s first dance, asked if, even after such a long time in Let’s Dance, he could still enjoy the energy from the audience. “Since I don’t play in the theater that much anymore, this is recharging my batteries. I thank you very much for being here with us. The ninth round, you are amazing, 1500 people, unreal…” said the moved actor.
“You won’t miss the applause, won’t you want to return to the stage?Kovalčiková asked him immediately. Koleník answered mysteriously. “We’ll see, that’s the music of the future, now I’m enjoying the moment that’s here,” concluded the popular actor.
Ján Koleník appears on the boards near the Danube, which represent the world, in just one theater performance – War and Peace. People who would buy a ticket and go to the SND to see his acting skills don’t have many opportunities to stretch their wallets. Koleník announced his retirement from positions a few years ago, and at the time explained it by saying that he wanted to focus more on non-theatrical activities. Filming films, series or even fairy tales takes an enormous amount of time, and subscribing to “national” could be a disadvantageous contract.
Time is inexorable and it should also be mentioned that earnings in the private sector cannot be compared to those in the state theater at all. Since March, the new head of the SND, Zuzana Ťapáková, has taken over the leadership of the SND, who until then held the position of temporary director.
We were interested in how Ján Koleník perceives this situation and whether there is room for wider cooperation with the theater. “After all, I haven’t been a member of the National Theater for about 6 years, so it basically doesn’t concern me anymore,” the actor admitted and added: “I’m only playing in one show externally, which can be withdrawn at any time, so that’s the absolute reality,” stated Koleník openly, who is aware of what can happen.
Including the scenario that, despite its popularity, it will eventually end up in the national theater. “I don’t expect the show to run forever and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the SND,” he noted for John.
The head of the theater Zuzana Ťapáková responded to our questions by repeating that Ján Koleník is no longer a member of the SND Drama. “As for the plan, SND is still waiting for final approval by the founder, that is, the Ministry of Culture,” she highlighted other theater projects. As part of the state consolidation, Ťapáková reduced the costs of five actors – for example, Táňa Pauhofová or Anna Magdaléna Hroboňová, and put her in the position of external employees, such as Koleník.
