Benfica stumbled against Famalicão at the weekend, and Sporting could take the opportunity to relaunch the fight for second place and access to the Champions League.
Sporting will face Vitória de Guimarães on Monday night, starting at 8:15 pm, in Alvalade, in the penultimate round of the League. With Benfica’s draw at the weekend, the ‘lions’ have the opportunity to equal their rival’s 76 points, which currently occupies second place.
“Sporting has extra motivation. Rui Borges knows that he can and must use this result from his rival so that the dressing room recovers what, for much of the season, was the foundation: a convinced, determined team capable of overcoming its own problems”, says João Rosado.
For the SIC Notícias commentator, the match will not be easy for the ‘lions’, who will face “a team that has been doing very well in recent games, in contrast to Sporting itself”.
Hjulmand is short
With the “determining absence” of captain Morten Hjulmand, Rui Borges has an “unknown” in midfield, although there is not “much room for maneuver”.
“I believe that Daniel Bragança could be present in the starting eleven”, suggested João Rosado.
