Expozebu auctions earn R$254.5 million

The 91st ExpoZebu recorded a new revenue record: R$ 254.5 million, a cgrowth of 26% compared to last year’s edition and a result well above the initial estimate of ABCZ (Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders) which expected a number close to R$ 200 million.

In the assessment of ABCZ’s technical and scientific director, Eduardo Cardoso, two points favored the result. The number of individuals sold at sales was 5.8% higher. The average and individual appreciation grew 19.4%, reflecting the turn of the cycle and appreciation of all categories, from calves to beef cattle.

The R$254.5 million refers exclusively to the 41 auctions held throughout the fair. The results of 11 animal shopping malls have not yet been added. In this modality, farms and breeders in Uberaba (MG) open the gates and sell directly to the buyer, who can negotiate the best payment methods “eye to eye” with the seller.

The zebu, the termite ox, originated in India. It has adapted well to the tropical climate and stands out for its resistance and rusticity. It represents more than 80% of the Brazilian herd. Some breeds are capable of producing milk. The majority stands out, with the Nelore breed being the most representative.
