Government launches plan against organized crime on the 12th – 05/04/2026 – Panel

While the National Congress holds, the government (PT) set the date to launch the Brazil Program against Organized Crime: it will be on May 12th.

The initial forecast was to launch the program in April, but the final details were only agreed on this Monday (4). in the United States, the launch is scheduled for next week.

The gavel was struck during a meeting between President Lula and the Minister of Justice, Wellington César Lima e Silva, who is on the ropes. Lula’s allies advocate that the president change the head of the ministry and choose Jorge Messias as the new Minister of Justice.

Planalto wants a broad ceremony, with the presence of governors and mayors. This week, invitations start to be sent out. The government wants the presence of those who can benefit from the program.

The managed to release a supplementary budget of R$1 billion. Furthermore, a fund managed by BNDES should release an additional R$10 billion to states and municipalities.

The decree will regulate and, at the ceremony, the government will also publish ordinances that will contain the main axes of the program. , the program will combat arms trafficking and will address security in the prison system, with prison control.

Other points of the program deal with the financial suffocation of criminal organizations, reoccupation of territories dominated by criminals and border protection.

The measure is a message to voters who are one of the Lula government’s Achilles heels. Furthermore, it will try to sensitize the Senate to discuss the Security PEC, which is blocked in the house.
