The president of the FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front), deputy (Republicanos-PR), stated this Tuesday (May 5, 2026) that the a federal government debt renegotiation program, is “completely incipient” and does not meet the size of the crisis faced by rural producers.
According to the deputy, the significantly increased production costs, especially in the soybean chain, with a direct impact on the use of machines and freight, in addition to indirect effects on inputs such as and defensive. “The impact is absurd across the entire chain”these.
Lupion stated that the sector’s debt already exceeds R$ 120 billion — a value close to the increase in with the rise in fuel prices. For him, there is fiscal space to face the problem. “We are trying to show the government that there is somewhere to get resources from, as long as there is priority”he declared.
The president of the agricultural bench also criticized the cost of rural credit, which, according to him, exceeds 20% per year in real terms, driven by high interest rates and the lack of subsidies for rural insurance. He attributed the scenario to the government’s fiscal policy and regulatory obstacles that, he said, increase risk and make access to financing difficult.

The deputy also defended measures to increase the competitiveness of biofuels in the fuel project being discussed in the Chamber. According to him, encouraging ethanol and biodiesel can stimulate agricultural production and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
