Allies of governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) want him to enter the field to avoid the fragmentation of right-wing candidates in São Paulo, which could favor a name from the left.
This Tuesday (5), the other will be up to federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP).
At least three other names linked to the right or center-right have already entered the dispute: Delegado Palumbo (Podemos) and Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade). Of these, Salles is the one that stands out most strongly in the research.
According to an interlocutor of Tarcísio, only the governor would have the political strength to work with party leaders to remove them from their candidacy for the Senate and eventually offer compensation to those who were passed over.
The biggest concern is with the high ratings that have been obtained by the three pre-candidates from the left. Only two will contest the election, however.
