A military police officer was shot during an attempted robbery on the afternoon of this Tuesday (5), in Jardim Gramacho, in Duke of Caxiasin Baixada Fluminense. Sergeant Michael Diego da Silva Gonçalves Rosa was hit in both legs after intervening in a robbery on Rua Paraíso, in the Carvalhão climb region, close to Rodovia Washington Luiz.
According to information from the Military Police, the agent was off duty and was leaving work, still in uniform, when witnessed two men on a motorcycle robbing another motorcyclist.
When approaching the suspects, shots were exchanged. The police officer was shot and the criminals fled with the victim’s motorcycle.
Videos that circulate on social media show the moment when the sergeant is rescued by other military police officers. The images also record the agent’s vehicle with several gunshot marks. The victim of the robbery appears in recordings made at the scene.
The police officer was taken to the Adão Pereira Nunes Municipal Hospital. According to the corporation, his health condition is stable.
The incident was registered at the 59th DP (Duque de Caxias), responsible for investigating the case.
Data from the Fogo Cruzado Institute indicate that this was the 39th security officer shot in the Metropolitan Region of Rio in 2026. In total, 18 died and 21 were injured. Among the cases, 31 involve military police officers, 14 of whom were killed and 17 injured.
