Minister compared the incidence of crime during the Lula and Bolsonaro administrations; country broke record number of cases in 2025
The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, (Psol-SP), criticized, in at X this Wednesday (May 6, 2026), the senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency, (PL), for statements about violence against women in the president’s government (PT).
Flávio stated that the Lula government “is the most violent in history for women“. Boulos questioned the senator’s legitimacy to address the issue. According to the minister, the biggest increase in the femicide rate was seen during the government of (PL), father of the pre-candidate.
“Flávio Bolsonaro wanting to teach a lesson about feminicide?”, declared Boulos. “The group that has always attacked women now wants to pay civility. Hypocrisy has a limit!”.
Boulos cited the governor (Republicanos-SP). He said that, under the management of Flávio’s ally, feminicide crimes increased by 41% in São Paulo. The data refers to the comparison between the 1st quarter of 2026 and 2025, when the number of cases reached not state.
In 2025, Brazil recorded a record number of femicides. Data from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security indicate that were murdered for reasons of gender, an average of 4 victims per day in the country. The number exceeds that recorded in 2024, when 1,464 cases were recorded.
The increase in cases over the last decade highlights a growth trend. Between 2015, when the crime was classified, and 2025, the number of femicides jumped by around 175%.
FEMALE ELECTORATE
Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro’s electoral campaigns of the female electorate, considered key to victory in the dispute for Planalto. The problem is that both have almost equal in the category.
The 2026 elections are on track to have a record number of female voters. March data from the Superior Electoral Court that qualified female voters are 52.8% of the total. There are today 82.8 million women and 73.9 million men eligible to vote.
In recent months, Lula has the “men who serve” to act against violence against women. The president spearheaded the first lady’s idea, for a uniting proposals for the Three Powers and in a new package against violence against women.
Flávio’s last name is the main impasse with this electorate. Still as a deputy, Jair Bolsonaro said he would not rape deputy Maria do Rosário (PT) because she “didn’t deserve it“. The phrase earned him a conviction for moral damages. In his government, Bolsonaro appointed only 2 women among 22 ministers.
One to AtlasIntel in February it showed that 54% of women are afraid or worried about the senator’s election, against 38.4% who felt the same about Lula.
