Extreme scenario: Swedish personal watercraft are purchased by PR for rescues

O Paraná Military Fire Department received, on Tuesday (5), new equipment to reinforce rescue operations, including five Rescue Runner type watercraft, developed in Sweden and aimed at working in flooded areas and rescue in extreme situations.

According to the state government, the equipment is part of a package of R$ 10.41 million and were designed to operate in scenarios such as fast-flowing rivers and places with natural obstacles.

Watercraft use jet propulsion, without an external propeller, and have a rear platform that allows . Each unit can be operated by one firefighter and transport up to two people.

The package also includes 3,781 rescue equipment at height, strengthening operations in events that require vertical techniques, such as rescues in buildings, slopes and difficult-to-access areas.

According to the deputy commander, the distribution of equipment follows an integrated emergency response model. “The idea is to position these resources at strategic points, with teams prepared for a quick response. We work with the task force concept, in which different units converge on the location of the incident depending on the severity of the situation”, added Colonel Emmanuel.

Also included are vehicles for transporting search dogs, speedboats, boats, inflatable boats, diving equipment and items for rescue from heights.
