President of the party stated, in Paraíba, that the head of the Executive expands alliances beyond the party and aims for re-election
The president of the (Workers’ Party) stated, this Wednesday (May 6, 2026), that the president (PT) “it’s bigger than PT” for expanding political alliances beyond the party. The statement was given to journalists during a visit to João Pessoa (PB).
“The Lula institution is bigger than the PT, because it expands alliances, it adds other alliances that go beyond the Workers’ Party”declared Edinho. According to him, the president “never omitted” in relation to Paraíba.
During the visit to the State, Edinho thanked the political support of the acting governor of Paraíba, (PP-PB), an ally of the federal government. “It was a courtesy visit and I am very happy to have this support in Paraíba”he stated.
The leader also highlighted the PT’s historical relationship with the governments of Paraíba. According to him, the party has participated in state management since the administration of former governor Ricardo Coutinho (PT).
2026 ELECTION
Edinho classified this year’s elections as “historical” and said that, in Paraíba, the allied base should have 2 candidates for the Senate. The party president stated that the party’s central objective is Lula’s re-election, but declared that state directorates will have autonomy to define electoral strategies.
“Thinking about this scenario, we gave autonomy to the States, autonomy to the PT throughout Brazil to build and debate each one’s electoral tactics, but knowing that the center of our electoral tactics is the re-election of Lula”these.
LULA’S VISIT TO PARAÍBA
When commenting on a possible visit by Lula to the State, the leader stated that the president mobilized ministers to monitor the flood situation in Paraíba. “Lula is present here, even going to the USA. He went to the USA to debate the war in the Middle East. This war has had an impact on food prices for the Brazilian people. The president wants to solve these problems”he declared.
During his visit to Paraíba, Edinho also met with the senator (MDB-PB). The meetings served to discuss the local political scenario and align agendas of regional interest.
