The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that the President of the United States Donald Trump showed affection for Brazil during a meeting between the two leaders this Thursday (7).
“Trump often repeats that he likes Brazil, that he loves Brazil”, said Lula.
According to the Brazilian president, Trump claimed to have many Brazilian friends and even cited an old photograph involving the former president of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, Vicente Matheus.
“He said he has many friends in Brazil. In fact, I took a photo of him that I forgot to bring, with Vicente Matheus, at the time he was president of Corinthians, in a casino, I think it was his, in Los Angeles”, said Lula.
Lula took off from Washington, DC, on Thursday night after meeting with Trump at the White House. The PT member stated that the meeting with Trump was productive and that they discussed several issues, such as tariffs and trade.
During the press conference, he stated that he wanted to strengthen the relationship between Brazil and the United States.
“I want the United States to once again see Brazil as an important partner for its entrepreneurship activities,” declared Lula. The Brazilian president also stated that he believes that Trump “likes Brazil” and highlighted the historical relationship between the two countries.
“As we Brazilians also like the United States, why not make things work?” he said.
The Brazilian president stated that he wants to strengthen the relationship between Brazil and the United States after meeting with Donald Trump.
