After meeting in Paraíba, PEC 6×1 commission holds hearing in SP

The special commission that discusses the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) at the end of the 6×1 scale will hold, next Thursday (17), a public hearing in São Paulo (SP).

The meeting is part of a state meeting organized to support the proposal report with information on the regional impacts of reducing working hours.

According to members of the commission, the meeting should take place at the Metalworkers Union and bring together state parliamentarians, workers, union representatives and members of civil society.

Businesspeople from São Paulo have already shown resistance to the proposal. A delegation led by Fecomércio-SP (Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo) sought out parliamentarians from different parties to try to stop the discussions from progressing.

This Thursday (7), during the commission’s first external hearing, held in Paraíba, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-BA), criticized sectors that, according to him, try to delay the processing of the PEC.

“Why does the debate have to have a beginning, middle and end? Because, for those who don’t want change, procrastinating at this moment might be a strategy”, , in Paraíba.

The PEC rapporteur, (Republicanos-BA), plans to vote on the opinion by May 26th and take the proposal to the Chamber plenary the following day, May 27th.
