Poland, as the first EU state, reaches for billions from the European SAFE instrument for the modernization of the army. The signing of the agreement in Warsaw opens the way to record loans.

On Friday, Poland, as the first EU member state, signed an agreement with the European Commission (EC) on participation in the SAFE instrument, on the basis of which it can receive 43.7 billion euros in the form of low-interest loans for the modernization of the army. The ceremonial signing of the agreement took place at the government office in the presence of Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, Minister of Finance Andrzej Domanský and European Commissioners Andrius Kubilius and Piotr Serafin. Representatives of the defense industry were also present, reports the Warsaw news agency TASR.
