The cruise MV Hondiusaffected by a hantavirus outbreak, will anchor this Sunday, around 5:30 (local time, 6:30 in mainland Spain) to disembark its passengers throughout the day. The operation continues despite the institutional shock this morning, when the central government had to, after the last minute refusal of the Canary Islands president, Fernando Clavijo, to authorize the funding. Shortly before, he had not expressed any objection in a meeting with the Minister of Health, Mónica García, and Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, who celebrated that everything was prepared after the meeting. However, Clavijo has argued that he was not guaranteed that all passengers would be transferred this Sunday, including on flights from other countries if necessary – given the delay of planes from the Netherlands and Australia – so he has refused to authorize anchoring. Finally, the Government has imposed anchoring and the operation will be carried out as planned: the passengers, all asymptomatic, will begin to disembark at 8:00, starting with the Spanish.
