The Croatian revealed the last affordable island in the country: But one thing, according to her, could be cheaper!

Croatia and its prices are the number one topic every summer. Social media is flooded with photos of overpriced coffees, fancy ice creams and head-spinning restaurant bills. Jone tourist therefore decided to talk about her personal experience from this year’s vacation on the island of Krk. What she experienced there completely shocked her – but in the best sense of the word, writes the website.

“I would spend more at home in a housing estate in Zagreb than here at sea. I didn’t expect this at all,” the surprised woman begins her story. The vacationer visited several well-known resorts, including the cities of Omišalj, Baška and the city of Krk itself. According to her, the prices were much lower than she expected after the Internet scare.

She and her friend sat down in a restaurant right on the beach promenade in the city of Krk. They had two coffees and twice one of the most popular and well-known drinks, Jadrane Cedevita. The resulting bill? 8 euros. “Of course, the days when coffee cost a little over a euro are gone. Today, we are happy if it costs two euros. But when I compare it to coffee chains in Zagreb, this is great,” he boasts, adding that he just hopes prices don’t skyrocket when the season kicks into high gear.

She experienced an even bigger shock in one of the most famous restaurants on the island. They received two pizzas, a glass of wine and juice on the table. There were no cheap versions – one pizza was with prosciutto and the other with seafood. “We paid 32 euros. I was shocked because I didn’t expect that in the narrowest center of the city of Krk we could fit in a lunch for two under 50 euros,” says the happy tourist.

They spent the evening in the resort of Njivice, where they went for ice cream. A scoop cost them 2 euros, while in the capital of Croatia it already costs 2.50 euros in many places.

Favorable prices are also reported from parking lots. Right in the center of the city of Krk, you pay 1.50 euros per hour of parking, and the payment works easily via SMS or the app. In zones near popular beaches (such as the famous Vela Plaža in Baška) it is slightly more expensive. It ranges from 1.50 to 2 euros, somewhere around 3 euros per hour, which is still acceptable for a top location.

The only thing that the vacationer shook her head about was the beach service. A set of two sunbeds and an umbrella for the whole day costs 20 to 30 euros. “That could be cheaper. I only used this option for one day. For the rest of the vacation, I preferred to lay out a towel in the sun and apply a lot of cream. But there’s no arguing against the taste. Anyway, I left pleasantly surprised. Compared to other places on the Adriatic coast, Krk is really affordable,” concluded the satisfied tourist.
