Due to its high fiber content, pomelo eliminates digestive problems, constipation or diarrhea. It also has an antibacterial effect. Experts from the Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ) Bratislava brought it closer on the social network.
“There are substances in the pulp that have antibacterial effects. Pomelo has proven itself especially in the fight against inflammation of the urinary tract. If you are currently fighting a bacterial or viral infection, a fever, a cough or a common cold, reach for pomelo,” they recommended.
Pomelo contains several vitamins, such as iron, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and sodium. It is also a very good source of potassium. It thus helps to cope with spasms, stiff muscles, relieves tension in blood vessels and increases blood circulation and oxygenation in the organs. “Pomelo contains a high proportion of vitamin C. Just 200 grams of fruit will give you the recommended daily dose of the vitamin,” noted Zuzana Klinčáková, head of the department of health support and health education.
This fruit is also used for weight loss. “Thanks to its high content of antioxidants, pomelo can have an anti-aging effect. The main antioxidants are naringenin and naringin. In addition, pomelo contains the anti-inflammatory antioxidant lycopene, which is also found in tomatoes,” added Klinčáková.
