President of the Chamber said that he and his wife complied with all customs rules and that the PGR “will verify this”
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, (Republicanos-PB), denied this Tuesday (May 12, 2026) irregularities on a flight made in 2025. Investigations by the PF (Federal Police) transportation of baggage without supervision on a private flight. The senator (PP-PI) was also on the aircraft.
Motta said he always follows the rules on the flights he takes. He stated that the footage shows that his and his wife’s luggage, Luana Madeiros, were x-rayed.
“We have nothing to hide. It is not true that the luggage that may not have passed through the detector is mine or my wife’s.”, he declared in an interview with the program TMC 360.
The federal deputy also said that he had “full conviction” that the (Attorney General’s Office) will verify that all procedures were followed by the couple.
“I would never use the prerogative of the position I currently hold to try to circumvent the laws of my country. I have always complied and will always comply with the rules and laws of Brazilian customs, because this is the duty of every Brazilian citizen”he declared.

The Federal Police are investigating the entry of volumes without customs supervision at Catarina International Executive Airport, in São Roque (SP), on April 20, 2025, during the disembarkation of the private flight PP-OIG.
Hugo Motta and senator Ciro Nogueira, president of the PP, in addition to federal deputies, (PP-RJ) and (MDB-AL), were on the aircraft. The group was returning from the island of São Martinho.
Recordings from the airport’s internal security circuit recorded the moment when the inspector allowed pilot José Jorge de Oliveira Júnior, flight commander, to pass through with the packages without subjecting them to x-rays. The material was analyzed by the corporation and is part of the investigation obtained by the g1.
The aircraft belongs to businessman Fernando Oliveira de Lima. The PF is investigating suspicions of facilitation of smuggling and malfeasance involving the tax auditor, who allegedly authorized the irregular release of the luggage.
The case reached the Federal Supreme Court after the investigations progressed and the deputies and senator on the flight were identified. The presence of congressmen attracts the Court’s jurisdiction due to the privileged forum, a prerogative that submits cases against politicians who hold certain public positions to higher courts.
