The former Lava Jato prosecutor and former federal deputy, Deltan Dallagnol, stated this Tuesday (12) be “eligible” to run for the Senate in the 2026 election. The statement was given in an interview with Young Pan from Curitiba.

Asked if there is trust in Justice to recognize yours eligibilityDallagnol confirmed. The former prosecutor considered that, if you cannot compete at Casa Alta, there are “excellent names” to replace it.

Prejudice for the population of Paraná there won’t be. What we cannot do is allow, on the carpet, people from Brasília to decide who will be the senators of Paraná”, he declared.

Cassation

In May 2023, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) decidedunanimously, revoke candidacy registration from Dallagnol by attempt to circumvent the Clean Record Law. Consequently, the former prosecutor lost mandate in the Chamber of Deputies.

At the time, the TSE understood that Dallagnol committed irregularity when he left his position as public prosecutor while responding to disciplinary proceedings with the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP). For the court ministers, he could be punished. The Electoral Justice analysis took place after the Brazilian Federation of Hope, formed by PT, PCdoB and PV, and the PMN question the regularity of the registration of the former deputy to run for Casa Baixa.
