The senator and pre-candidate for President (-RJ) confirmed this Wednesday (13) that he asked for money from , owner of , for , about the former president (PL), but denied having received benefits from the former banker.
“More than ever, it is essential to separate the innocent from the criminals. In our case, what happened was a son, seeking PRIVATE sponsorship for a PRIVATE film about his own father’s story”, wrote the senator, in a note.
Information revealed by the website and confirmed by Sheet show that Vorcaro paid R$61 million to finance the feature film about Bolsonaro.
In the statement, Flávio said that he met Vorcaro in December 2024 and that, at the time, there were no accusations or public suspicions about the former banker. The senator also stated that he sought contact with the owner of Master because there was a delay in paying the sponsorship installments to complete the film.
“I did not offer advantages in return. I did not promote private meetings outside the agenda. I did not broker business with the government. I did not receive money or any advantage. This is very different from the spurious relations between the Lula government and its representatives with Vorcaro”, declared the pre-candidate.
In a video published on social media, Bolsonaro’s son repeats the allegations in the note and adds that Vorcaro “simply stopped honoring” the payments to finance the production, which meant that other investors had to be sought.
“Yes, there was a contract that, if he didn’t pay these installments, there was a great chance that the film wouldn’t even be broadcast, that the film wouldn’t even be completed,” said Flávio.
The press release was released this afternoon after Flávio initially denied the payments. When approached by the Intercept team upon leaving the STF (Supreme Federal Court), the parliamentarian was asked about the financing and replied: “Where did you get this information from? It’s a lie”, according to the website’s report. Afterwards, the senator laughed and left the place.
The new position, with confirmation of Vorcaro’s transfers, was released after he met with members and lawyers from his presidential campaign this afternoon to prepare the response about his relationship with Daniel Vorcaro.
Allies and assistants of the presidential candidate had meetings at the campaign’s political office, in a mansion in Lago Sul, in Brasília. Strategies were discussed before the release of any public response from the senator to the biggest crisis of his pre-candidacy so far.
In addition to Flávio, the president of the PL, the coordinator and senator (PL-RN) and the electoral lawyer Maria Claudia Bucchianeri were at the campaign HQ.
According to the report, in addition to the R$61 million, Flávio asked Vorcaro for more money in audio.
“I’m embarrassed to keep demanding you, this is a very decisive moment in the film. And there’s a lot left behind, and everyone is tense and I’m worried about the opposite effect of what we dreamed of for the film, right?”, the senator reportedly said in a message sent on September 8 last year.
“Imagine us defaulting on Jim Caviezel, on Cyrus, the guys, well, renowned in American and global cinema. Wow, it would be really bad”, he would have added. Jim Cazaviel plays Jair Bolsonaro in the film. Cyrus Nowrasteh is the film’s director.
