Russian drones twice hit a marked UN car during a humanitarian mission in Kherson, with nine people inside. According to Zelensky, the attack could not have been accidental.
“Today, during the humanitarian mission in Kherson, the Russians attacked the OCHA vehicle twice using FPV drones, while they could not be aware of what vehicle they were targeting,” Zelensky announced on the X platform.
“The head of OCHA and eight other staff members were inside. Fortunately, no one was injured. Mission personnel were evacuated,” he added. He also shared a video of a damaged car with the inscription UN (UN in English).
Night attacks claimed victims
Zelenskyy confirmed that the number of victims of the overnight Russian attack on Kyiv rose to five. According to him, approximately 40 people are injured and rescue and search operations are still ongoing. “More than ten people are reported missing,” he added.
Injuries were also reported from Kyiv and Odesa regions and Kharkiv. In an earlier post, the Ukrainian president confirmed that Russia attacked Ukraine on Thursday night with more than 670 drones and 56 missiles.
The world must respond
“There must be a fair response to all these attacks. And the pressure on Moscow must be such that they feel the consequences of their terror there. It is important that global sanctions against Russia remain in force. And it is also very important that the world does not remain silent about this terror and stand on the side of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy concluded.
