France is the favorite for the World Cup for Brazilians, says AtlasIntel

Research shows that only 15% are excited about the tournament; of those who support another team, 38% prefer Argentina to Brazil

A released, on Thursday (May 15, 2026), a survey on the interest of the Brazilian public in the next . The survey reveals that only 29.7% believe that Brazil will win. France leads as the main favorite, with 35.8% of nominations. In 3rd place comes Spain, with 9.8%, followed by Germany, with 8.6% and Argentina, with 7.3%.

Of those interviewed, 85.8% stated that they will support the Brazilian team in the competition. This data contrasts with the low levels of excitement recorded: only 14.9% declared they were “excited” or “very excited” with the tournament. Read (PDF – 8 MB).

Of the 14.2% who chose to support another team in the World Cup, Argentina leads the preferences, with 38.1%. South Korea appears in 2nd place, with 15.7%, followed by Portugal, with 9%. Germany and Spain are tied with 4.5% each. The United States and France register 3.7% of preferences.

Despite the apathy, 65.2% of those interviewed stated that they intend to follow the World Cup games. Among those who will not attend the tournament, 59% justified their decision due to a lack of interest in the Brazilian team.

PUBLIC WHO WILL WATCH THE GAMES

Among Brazilians who will follow the World Cup, 42.3% intend to watch mainly Brazil’s games, but also matches from other teams. Another 31.6% will exclusively watch the Brazilian team’s games.

The survey measured the recognition of the players from the last squad by the Brazilian public. leads with 83.9%, followed by , with 81% and , with 68.8%. Marquinhos appears with 66% and Raphinha with 63%. The least recognized players are Roger Ibañez, with 9%, and Kaiki, with 9.6%.
