Big twist in the case of agricultural subsidies: The former Smer-SD deputy is headed to court again!

The ex-MP for Smer-SD Ľubica Rošková is scheduled to appear before the Court of Appeal on Wednesday (May 20) in the case of receiving agricultural subsidies. This follows from the schedule of hearings of the Supreme Court (NS) of the Slovak Republic. He faces charges of damaging the financial interests of the European Union and of subsidy fraud.

In 2024, the specialized criminal court in Pezinok found Ľubica Rošková guilty of committing criminal acts of damaging the financial interests of the European Union and subsidy fraud. He imposed a three-year suspended prison sentence on her with a five-year probationary period. The defendant had to compensate the agricultural payment agency for damages in the amount of approx 152.000 eur.

The court partially modified the indictment’s legal qualification, which reduced the penalty rate. He was inclined to impose a sentence at the lower limit of the criminal rate with a maximum length of probation. According to the indictment, the exposlankyne company was supposed to receive agricultural subsidies without authorization. These are requests from 2016 and 2017. The case has been under investigation since 2018.
