Montmelo – Ducati rider Álex Márquez won the MotoGP sprint as part of the Grand Prix of Catalunya. The Catalan prevailed on Saturday in Montmelo north of Barcelona in the closest sprint decision in history, ahead of his compatriot Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati). Acosta, who was only 41 thousandths of a second behind, overtook the Italian in the World Championship standings and temporarily moved back to third place.
