“It’s not a country for my children.” Merz attacks the USA again

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz

Federal Chancellor of Germany considers that the current “social climate” in the USA discourages foreigners from working and studying in the country. Merz also said that, although he appreciates the United States, his “admiration is not increasing”.

Federal Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, said that he would not recommend that his children travel to the United States to study or work, taking into account the current “social climate” that prevails in North American society.

The statement was made this Friday, during a debate with young people at the Catholic Meeting, in the city of Würzburg.

“Today, even the most qualified people in the United States are facing great difficulties in finding a job. I am a great admirer of the United States. At the moment, my admiration is not increasing”, declared the head of the German Government and father of three children.

The statement was received with applause from the audience.

“Today, I would not advise my children to go to the USA, study there or work there, simply because a certain social climate has suddenly taken hold in the country,” said Merz.

In a criticism of “pure capitalism”, the Federal Chancellor stated that “a balanced combination” of “social market economy” is necessary, when comparing the United States with Germany — and urged young Germans to adopt a more optimistic attitude towards their country.

“I firmly believe that there are few countries in the world that offer such great opportunities, especially to young people, as Germany,” he added.

Merz, “controlled by the woke”

Merz’s statement was quickly criticized by Richard Grenell, Donald Trump’s foreign policy advisor and former ambassador to Germany, who attacked the chancellor on the X network. “The Germans have a leader who has no strategy — and is completely controlled by the German woke media,” Grenell wrote.

Last month, Germany’s Federal Chancellor had already criticized the President of the United States, Donald Trump, by stating that he was at the negotiating table.

After the comment, Trump suggested that Merz was doing a “terrible” job as a leader and abruptly announced that the United States would withdraw 5,000 troops from its bases in Germany, in a gesture interpreted as retaliation — a promise that was kept.

Even before the controversy over Iran, the German chancellor had already said that a Cultural “fracture” between the United States and Europedue to the culture wars promoted by Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.

Also this Friday, Merz stated that he spoke on the phone with Trump, in a conversation that he classified as “good”, despite recent differences.

“I had a good telephone conversation with Donald Trump after his return from China”, wrote the German Chancellor in X, adding that “the United States and Germany are solid partners within a strong NATO”.

In the message, the Federal Chancellor supported the points defended by Washington in the negotiations to end the conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran. “We agree: Iran must now sit at the negotiating table. It must open the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran must not possess nuclear weapons”, wrote Merz.
