Passenger was banned and banned from flying on any Australian airline Qantas aircraft again.
Australia’s airline Qantas was forced to divert a flight bound for the United States to Tahiti due to a passenger who, according to the Australian press, he bit a crew member.
The flight, which departed from Melbourne, in southeast Australia, to Dallas, in the south of the USA, on Friday, had to stop in Papeete, on the island of Tahiti, in the French Polynesian archipelago.
The Australian public broadcaster said this Sunday that the man bit a Qantas employee before being stopped by other passengers.
Upon landing in Tahiti, the individual was detained by local authorities and banned from flying any Qantas aircraft again.
“The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behavior on our flights,” a Qantas spokesperson told the Qantas news agency today.
Regarding the flight, the plane resumed its original journey to Dallas approximately 35 minutes later, after refueling. It arrived at its destination on Saturday morning.
