45% disapprove of Lula’s work, 51% approve, says Datafolha

Research carried out from May 12th to 13th shows that rates are the same as in April, even with Desenrola 2.0, the end of the blouse fee and diesel subsidy

A Datafolha survey released on Saturday (May 16, 2026) shows that the president (PT) is disapproved by 51% and approved by 45% of Brazilians. Those who did not know how to answer totaled 4%.

When asked about the PT member’s assessment, 39% of those interviewed said he is running a government “roomy” or “terrible”. Another 30% considered “bom” or “excellent” and 29% classified it as “regular”.

Datafolha carried out 2,004 interviews with the Brazilian population aged 16 and over, throughout Brazil, in 139 municipalities. The maximum margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus, with a 95% confidence level. The survey is registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under code BR-00290/2026. It cost R$307,641.60 and was paid for with own resources.

The maintenance of the scenario registered in April indicates that Lula’s initiatives, such as the launch of Desenrola 2.0, the end of the tax on blouses and the diesel subsidy, have not had an effect on the government’s assessment, for now.
