Former football goalkeeper Anton Švajlen died on Sunday at the age of 88. As a member of the Czechoslovak national team, he won a silver medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The information was provided by Denník Šport on its official website.
Švajlen was a long-term supporter of VSS Košice, for which he caught in the years 1959 – 1975. The native of Solčany made 336 starts in the league, of which 125 with a clean sheet. He was also known as a successful executor of penalty kicks, scoring 11 times in the top competition from the penalty spot. At the Olympics in Tokyo, he played one duel against Brazil. He later worked as a coach and was a member of the Košice Olympic Committee.
