It took 40 years for the directors of the Prado and Reina Sofía museums to sit down and speak publicly. and they did it on Monday afternoon, at the contemporary art center, coinciding with its 40th anniversary. Although the two managers have assured that they chat regularly, they do so in private. They get along well, they seem complicit, they complain about the same things, for example, not having more budget. “We compete in the Champions League of museums with second-rate regional budgets. It is incredible how much a euro goes in this country,” said Falomir with the connivance of Segade. But in recent decades the relationship between these two institutions has not been bellicose, but neither has it been the most cordial due to a multitude of issues, among others or the artists who fill their collections.
