A federal court jury in the US state of California ruled on Monday that billionaire Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its co-founders after the statute of limitations had expired. writes TASR according to reports from the agencies DPA, AFP and Reuters.
Musk is the co-founder and former financial backer of OpenAI, the company behind the ChatGPT language model. One of the main arguments in his lawsuit was that the company’s transition to a for-profit business was against its original non-profit model.
The world’s richest man tried in court to force the company to return to a non-profit structure. According to global agencies, this move would thwart the planned initial public offering of shares (IPO) and would disrupt ties to investors such as Microsoft, Amazon and others.
Musk claims that OpenAI has provided $38 million, as well as key contacts and technical know-how, to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. According to him, current director Sam Altman and president Greg Brockman misused this donation.
