Waack: Populist appeal of the 6×1 end of the scale dominates politicians

Unless for those who think that the ends justify any means, the deliberations to approve the end of the 6×1 scale in the Chamber of Deputies are proceeding in the worst possible way.

No matter how worthy the objectives to be achieved with this change are – in working hours and work schedules – the way in which this is being done promises to create enormous confusion. It is worth remembering the words of professor and sociologist José Pastore, a renowned specialist in labor relations, who has been pointing out error after error in what he intends to do.

The main one is trying to fit all human activities into a single constitutional rule. The diversity of the world of work, argues Professor Pastore, is much greater than that of the tax world – where the same path was attempted during the tax reform and the complementary laws again suggest a cipoal.
