Minister of the STF declared that a woman told the judicial agent that it would be “better to kill than to swear”
Minister Flávio Dino, of the Federal Supreme Court, said he had been the target of a death threat made by an airline employee. The case was reported by him on social media on Monday (May 18, 2026).
According to Dino, the employee looked at a boarding pass with his name on it and told a judicial police officer that she had “I want to curse him”. Then he said it would be “better to kill than to curse”.
The STF minister declared: “Recently, an airline employee, upon looking at a boarding pass with my name on it, expressed to a judicial police officer her desire to insult me. She then corrected herself: she said that it would be better to kill than to curse. As I don’t know her, nor does she know me, it is clear that such manifestations derive from my work at the STF”.
Dino defended that companies carry out civic education campaigns, especially before the October elections.
“Everyone has their own opinion, their sympathies and their individual vote. But, a citizen cannot be afraid of suffering aggression from a company employee, when consuming a service or product. It may have been an isolated case. However, with the progress of the electoral calendar, it may not be the case. So it is better to prevent it”these.
In a statement, the president of the STF, minister Edson Fachin, condemned the threat and expressed solidarity with Dino. He said that differences of ideas should not create space for hatred, violence or personal aggression.
“It is necessary to reaffirm the values of civility, tolerance and social peace. Brazil needs serenity, public spirit and democratic commitment, so that differences can coexist within the limits of mutual respect and human dignity”declared Fachin.
Dino’s advice was sought by Brazil Agencybut did not give details about the case.
