Lula tells businesspeople that he will not impose an end to the 6×1 scale “by force”

The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) told businesspeople that they didn’t need to “be scared” about the end of scale 6×1, as no one would impose a reduction in working hours “by force”. The declaration took place this Tuesday (19) during the opening of Enic (International Construction Industry Meeting), an event promoted by CBIC (Brazilian Chamber of Construction Industry).

“Don’t be scared. The 6×1 scale is a necessary thing, because today people want to have more time”, began the president, who used the example of a possible replacement of people by robots to ask for more consideration from workers.

“As long as there are workers, we have to respect them, and we know that it will be applied taking into account the specificities of each category. No one will impose it by force.”

In addition to Lula, the ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Civil House, Miriam Belchior, the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Márcio Elias Rosa, the Minister of Cities, Vladmir Lima, and the Minister of Planning, Bruno Moretti.

The Advocate General of the Union, Jorge Messiasalso accompanies the president on his agenda in São Paulo, even though he has been on vacation since last Wednesday (13). Former ministers were also present Simone Tebet e Marina Silva.

In the afternoon, Lula participates in the launch of the Move APPs program, at Casa de Portugal, also in the capital of São Paulo. The new line of credit provides special conditions for vehicle financing, maintenance and working capital.

Reduction in working hours

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, (Republicanos-PB), defends that the text of the end of the 6×1 scale be approved by the House by the end of May. The proposal aims to promote paid rest of two days a week and reduce the weekly working hours from the current 44 to 40 hours, without a salary cut.

The deputy will have a meeting with Hugo Motta and the president of the special committee, Alencar Santana (PT-SP), to define the latest adjustments to the proposal. The meeting should take place in the late afternoon and will address the most sensitive points of the text. The schedule established by Motta defined the presentation of the report on May 20th.
