The former governor of Minas Gerais (Novo) stated that the founder of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro, never contacted him, even though the two of them lived in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The statement was given to journalists in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, this Tuesday (May 19, 2026).
When asked if he had any connection with Vorcaro, Zema stated: “Strange, right? I live in Belo Horizonte, the same city that this criminal banker lives in, and I’ve never met him and never had a meeting with him, living in the same city, in the same State”.
The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic said that he was never contacted because his stance “It has always been about fighting corruption”. And he added: “I never had, during 7 years as governor, an unseemly proposal”.
The speech is an indirect criticism of the senator (PL-RJ), also a pre-candidate for Planalto. from the website The Intercept Brazil showed messages exchanged between the congressman and Vorcaro. Zema stated that the content of the conversations is “unforgivable” e “a slap in the face to Brazilians”.
This Tuesday (May 19), Flávio confirmed that he had met with Daniel Vorcaro after the businessman was arrested by the PF (Federal Police), for the first time, at the end of 2025.
According to the senator, the meeting in São Paulo was just to put a “full stop” in the relationship with Vorcaro, who was one of the film’s investors “Dark Horse” —a feature film that tells the story of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
