Tirolez receives Cade’s approval to acquire Regina brand and factory

Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) approved, without restrictions, the proposal to acquire the Regina cheese brand and the industrial plant in Governador Valadares (MG), assets belonging to the Barbosa & Marques group, currently in judicial recovery.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union on April 30, and the case has now become final, according to a publication from the local authority this Tuesday (19).

With , the Regina brand and the factory located in Governador Valadares should be incorporated into the Tirolez structure in the future, as the legal process progresses. The unit has a structure for cheese production, in addition to drying and processing whey powder.

Under the terms of the operation, Tirolez will start selling Regina brand products, which has more than 40 SKUs (stock keeping units), through lease and brand license agreements.

The definitive conclusion of the authorization of the 5th Civil Court of the District of Governador Valadares, responsible for the judicial recovery process of the Barbosa & Marques group.

The group from Minas Gerais entered into judicial recovery in March 2023. Founded in Carangola (MG), Barbosa & Marques has been operating since 1934.

The Regina brand began producing cheese in the 1940s and is present, above all, in the markets of Rio de Janeiro and the Northeast of the country.
