As soon as Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing, he reached into the rich collection of Chinese proverbs to pay homage to his host Xi Jinping: “A day when we don’t see each other,” Putin quoted, “feels like three autumns apart.” Putin was only in Beijing for a day, but the two leaders missed no opportunity to showcase the friendship between Russia and China.
