The Civil Guard has arrested a 27-year-old man in the town of Loja (Granada) as the alleged perpetrator of the . The body of , found on May 17 inside a burned-out house in the town of Ogíjares, also had wounds in the chest compatible with a knife.
After learning of the facts, the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Granada took charge of the investigation, carrying out the inspection of the property and its surroundings, as well as collecting testimonies from possible witnesses, with the aim of clarifying the circumstances in which the death occurred.
During the inspection, the agents located a plantation indoor of marijuana. They also noted that the woman’s body had wounds in the chest compatible with a knife, which led to the matter beginning to be investigated as a suspected homicide.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime had maintained a romantic relationship with the victim’s great-granddaughter, who in turn has reported an alleged situation of gender violence experienced with the suspect.
The 27-year-old man, who was arrested on Tuesday, is attributed with the alleged commission of the homicide, the burning of the house and based on the statements of the deceased woman’s great-granddaughter. Also a charge of drug trafficking.
The deputy delegate of the Government in Granada, José Antonio Montilla, indicated this Wednesday that the incident is being investigated as a possible case of vicarious violence. The detainee remains in the Civil Guard facilities waiting to be brought to justice. “Therefore, the line of investigation there is gender violence itself and also alleged vicarious violence in relation to the death of that person, but these are the areas that are being investigated,” Montilla told journalists.
The capture has been possible thanks to the review of cameras through which the agents were able to locate the detainee near the place where the events occurred. Around seven in the afternoon on Tuesday, thanks also to the collaboration of the family of the alleged murderer, it was possible to find his whereabouts and proceed with the arrest.
