The possession of Odair José da Cunha for the position of Minister of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) took place on the afternoon of this Wednesday (20), in extraordinary session at the TCU Plenaryin Brasilia. The former federal deputy for Minas Gerais takes over the vacancy left by Aroldo Cedrazcompulsorily retired according to the 75-year-old rule, in February 2026.

Trajectory
Nominated by the Chamber of Deputies e Odair José da Cunha was born on June 18, 1976 in the city of Piedade, in the interior of São Paulo. Lawyer since 1999worked in the areas of Public Law, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. He also worked in the municipal public administration, in the government of Minas Gerais and no State and federal Legislature.
Politically, Cunha was a federal deputy for Minas Gerais for six terms consecutively, starting in 2002. Currently 49 years old, he also held leadership and management positions in the Chamber of Deputies and, in 2024, assumed the position of leadership of the Workers’ Party bench in the Chamber.
Between 2015 and 2018, he served as Secretary of State of Government of Minas Geraisbeing responsible for the political and institutional coordination of the state government and for dialogue between powers, control bodies, municipalities and civil society.
