Aviation breaks record and transports 8 million passengers in April

Anac signals highest monthly volume since 2000; 1st quarter is also a record, with 33.7 million passengers on domestic flights

Brazilian aviation transported 8,006,624 passengers on domestic flights during April 2026. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the volume represents the highest number ever recorded in a single month since the beginning of the historical series of (National Civil Aviation Agency), in 2000. The agency released the data this Wednesday (May 20, 2026).

The 1st quarter of 2026 also broke a record. Domestic flights carried 33,735,228 passengers from January to April. According to the note, the country had never surpassed the 33 million passenger mark during this period.

The 8,006,624 passengers on domestic flights in April 2026 represent an increase of 1.1% compared to April 2025, when 7,917,698 people traveled across the country. From January to April, growth was 6.5% compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 31,663,888 passengers.

International flights also expanded. April 2026 recorded 2,224,730 passengers, an increase of 4.2% over the 2,133,788 in April 2025. The 1st quarter of 2026 recorded 10,574,548 international passengers, an increase of 11% compared to the 9,504,350 in the same period in 2025.

The sum of domestic and international flights totaled 10,231,354 passengers in April 2026, growth of 1.7% over the 10,051,486 in April 2025.

The first four months of 2026 reached 44,309,776 passengers, an increase of 7.6% compared to 41,168,238 in the same period of 2025.

The Minister of Tourism, attributed the sector’s historic performance to the public policies of the president’s government (PT), classifying the activity as a “vital gear for the country’s economy”. According to the minister, growth directly boosts regional development and trade.

“We are not just talking about statistics, but about millions of connections that boost commerce, hotels, leisure and regional development across the country, generating more income and jobs”said Feliciano.
