Lindbergh and Janones form ‘Lula’s team’ in anti-opposition videos

Deputies criticize investigations against Flávio and Eduardo and try to engage on social media to defend the PT government on the “front line”

Federal deputies (PT-RJ) and (Rede-MG) have relied on joint videos to confront the Bolsonaro family. The duo brings together congressmen with great appeal on social media and combative speeches in the National Congress.

Self-proclaimed “Lula’s team”the 2 criticize the senator’s (PL-RJ) statement that the president (PT) “I picked a team” to disseminate what he classified as false narratives against him. The senator also said he intends to take legal action against Lindbergh and Janones for attacks on social media.

VIDEOS MIRAM FLÁVIO AND EDUARDO

The 1st video, from April 9th, follows a trend in which Ceará presenter João Inácio Júnior dances and jumps. In the same recording style, Lindbergh and Janones cite investigations involving Flávio Bolsonaro and state that they are “just starting” criticizing him.

Flávio Bolsonaro, did you say we are Lula’s team? And we are Lula’s team, yes! We will not be intimidated by this process of yours, because we know that we will prove your crimes“, it says.

The 2nd recording, published on May 13, begins with Lindbergh kicking a Ypê brand detergent. Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) due to health problems.

Supporters of the former president (PL) stated, without providing evidence, that there was persecution due to the fact that the company had donated R$1.5 million to the former chief executive’s re-election campaign in 2022.

Lindbergh and Janones, wearing sportswear on a football field, say the case is a “smoke screen”. They comment on the complaint filed by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) against (PL-SP) and state that “jail is coming” for the deputy.

WHAT UNITES LINDBERGH AND JANONES

The point of contact between Lindbergh Farias and André Janones is the combative speech against opponents, according to the political scientist and director of the Pulso Público consultancy, Vítor Oliveira.

The trajectory of the 2 politicians, however, is different. Lindbergh has a more traditional profile. He started in the student movement in the 1990s and, affiliated with the PT since 2001, is considered a “party man”. He was mayor of Nova Iguaçu (RJ), councilor and senator.

Janones, in turn, has always made extensive use of digital platforms. Through them, he built his political base and distanced himself from traditional politicians by “less decorous treatment with opponents”according to Vítor Oliveira.

Although Lindbergh maintains good relations with some of the government’s main opponents in Congress, he approached Janones in a more combative speech, in search of greater flexibility and agility for communication on the left, which still resists using strategies similar to those on the right.

Despite considering the strategy logical, Vítor Oliveira states that the method adopted by congressmen carries risks. “It also brings a lack of control over speech. This is a line that the Planalto is not capable of – and perhaps should not – pursue, given the liturgy of the presidential office”he declared.

The 2 are targets of representations on the Chamber’s Ethics Council. The PL, party of former president Jair Bolsonaro, claims that Lindbergh used his mandate to promote political persecution against opponents. The acronym also cites an episode that occurred during the closure of the INSS CPMI, when the PT member called the deputy.

Janones responds to a representation after publishing a comment considered sexist against former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. In a publication on X, the deputy wrote that Michelle “inedible isn’t it”in reference to a speech by Bolsonaro, who often uses the expression “immortal, imbrochable and inedible”.

According to Vítor Oliveira, even if the videos do not have a direct effect on the presidential election, they can increase the individual protagonism of Lindbergh and Janones during the campaign. “It is positive in a difficult dispute for Congress, increasingly permeated by resources from parliamentary amendments and their connection with the territories”said the expert.
