Alcolumbre rejects opening Master’s CPMI and says it’s his decision

Deputies and senators from various parties pressured the president of the Senate during the Congress session this Thursday (May 21) to install the collegiate

The President of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), said this Thursday (May 21, 2026) that the prerogative to install the CPMI (Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) to investigate Banco Master belongs to the Board of Directors of the House.

During a joint session of Congress, Alcolumbre refused to read the requests presented by deputies and senators to install the collegiate. There are at least 5 requests to open the Master’s CPMI.

“Requests for material readings must be subject to an order from the presidency. Therefore, the moment of reading is a discretionary act of the presidency of the National Congress”said the senator.

According to the regulations, when a CPMI request reaches the minimum number of signatures (171), the document must be read by the president of the Senate during the next session of Congress for the commission to be installed.

Alcolumbre was pressured throughout the session by all parties, including the PT and PL, to open the CPMI.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) was one of those who asked for the opening of the collegiate and, Daniel Vorcaro, to attend a possible CPI to explain the relationship he maintained with him, with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and with Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The presidential candidate said that the left “I’m afraid” of the investigation. And he asked: “People on the left, raise your hand who signed Banco Master’s CPMI?”.

Last week, the website Intercept Brasil disclosed money to Vorcaro to finance the film “Dark Horse”which tells the story of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) until he became President. After the conversation was publicized, the senator confirmed the request to the founder of Master, but that the resources were private.
