The federal government will announce on Friday an extension of the blocking of spending by ministries to respect this year’s spending limit, Finance Minister Dario Durigan said this Thursday.
Currently, the blockade is at R$1.6 billion. In an interview with CNN BrazilDurigan stated that despite the greater blockade, it will not be necessary to promote a contingency — a blockade activated when the economic team sees a risk of non-compliance with the year’s fiscal target.
The government has scheduled the presentation of its bimonthly revenue and expenditure report for 3pm on Friday, which assesses the progress of federal accounts and highlights possible needs for spending cuts to comply with fiscal rules.
