Gerp research shows that 41% report a loss of confidence in the senator; 85% of those interviewed knew about the episode
A Gerp survey released this Friday (May 22, 2026) shows that it had a negative effect on the image of the senator (PL-RJ) for 33% of those interviewed, who said that the chance of voting for him “reduced a lot” (28%) or “a little” (5%).
Another 48% declared that the case did not change their voting intention, while 14% stated that the chance of voting for Flávio increased. 5% did not know or did not respond. Read the study (PDF – 870 kB). Here are the answers:

The impact on personal confidence was also mostly negative. Among those interviewed who heard about the case, 32% said they “it affected me a lot” and 9% said “a little”. Another 46% declared that the episode had no effect. 7% said that confidence increased and 5% did not know or did not respond.

According to the survey, 85% of Brazilians said they were aware of the case involving Flávio Bolsonaro and Banco Master. Another 11% declared that they did not know about the episode, while 4% did not know or did not respond.
Among those interviewed who said they were aware of the episode, 53% said they knew the subject in depth. Another 26% said they knew superficially, while 19% said they had only heard comments. 3% did not know or did not respond.
The survey also measured what respondents spontaneously remembered about the case. The most cited answer was that “Flávio asked Banco Master to sponsor Jair Bolsonaro’s film”mentioned by 29%.
Here are the main spontaneous responses:

- sponsorship, financing or fundraising for a film: 13%;
- corruption, theft, laundering or embezzlement of money: 9%.
The survey interviewed 2,000 voters in Brazil from May 18 to 21. The margin of error is 2.24 percentage points and the confidence level is 95.5%. Registration with the Superior Electoral Court is BR-07971-2026. According to the company, the study cost R$20,000 and was paid for with its own resources. The basis used in questions about impact on voting intentions and trust considers interviewees who were aware of the case.
MASTER CASE
On May 13, the digital newspaper Intercept Brasil disclosed that Flávio Bolsonaro negotiated the payment of US$24 million with Vorcaro in early 2025. The amount would be used to finance the film which portrays the trajectory of the former president (PL). The publication said $10.6 million was paid from February to May 2025.
