Mexico defeats Ghana in World Cup preparatory friendly

The Mexican team beat Ghana 2-0 this past Friday (22), in a friendly held at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium, in Puebla. The match serves as preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

The goals of the match were scored by Brian Gutiérrez and Guillermo Martínez, who cheered the home team. Mexico will still play two more friendlies before their debut in the competition. The duels will be against Australia, next Saturday (3), and Serbia, on June 4.

Ghana, who will also compete in the , will play a duel with Wales on the 2nd.

Host country of the competition, alongside the United States and Canada, Mexico is in Group A of the tournament, along with South Africa, South Korea and the Czech Republic. The Mexicans’ debut will take place on June 11th, at 4pm (Brasília time), against the South African team.

The Ghanaian team, in turn, is part of Group L, alongside Croatia and Panama. The Black Stars’ first game will be against the Panamanians and is scheduled for June 17th, at 8pm (Brasília time).
