The former president of OAB-MG and current attorney general of OAB Nacional, Sérgio Leonardo, assumed exclusively the defense of Daniel Vorcaroowner of Banco Master. The lawyer, who has accompanied the businessman since his first arrest, represents the banker alone after José Luís de Oliveira Lima, known as Juca, two days after the Federal Police (PF).

Sérgio Leonardo is 47 years old and has been working in the criminal law. Born in Minas Gerais, he represents the third generation of a family of jurists: he is grandson of Jair Leonardoformer president of OAB-MG and professor at UFMG, and son of Marcelo Leonardowho also presided over the Minas Gerais section and acted in cases such as Mensalão ea Car Wash.

The criminal lawyer, who lived in São Paulo, moved to Brasília in February last year to take over his law firm in the federal capital. With experience in Federal Police operations and jury trials, Sérgio Leonardo has already worked in cases of national repercussion, such as the defense of Vale’s directors and advisors in the episodes of dam failures in Mariana and Brumadinho.

The change in the legal team comes at a time when the PF refused the plea bargain proposal. However, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) keeps negotiations open for a possible cooperation agreement with the banker. Before José Luís de Oliveira Lima, Vorcaro’s defense had been led by lawyer Pierpaolo Bottini.
